Club work moved a lot within three years

Association for local history sums up results

Rothenstein/Oelknitz (OTZ). New and old chairman of the Geschichts- und Heimatverein Rothenstein/Oelknitz e.V. is and remains Dr. Hans Dieter Limpert. During the general assembly of the club at the end of March 87-year old Rudi Bocker was given a farewell from the executive committee and was appointed honorary member of the club. Simultaneously, the members used the meeting to a review the last three years. Particularly, the club has attracted attention in the cultural field with over 20 events in the Heimatstube. But also first approaches in embellishment of the village became visible: So, the monument for the pastor Dr. Hagen (1778-1872) could be restored by means of the club. Members of the club did actively support protection of ground monuments and labelling of pathways in the surroundings of Rothenstein/Oelknitz. It was summarized that the annual guided tours succeeded to awaken the interest of younger citizens in the history of the community too. With thematic exhibitions about people and events of the history of the community, the club began to create the basis of a chronicle of the community. The club members strengthened the executive committee to continue towards its goals.
